for the scribblers & doodlers

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

What a totally cool project! My sketches are more like chicken scratches but, what the heck, I am doing it. This will be a challenge and a stretch for me as I don't consider myself much of a draw-er. However, in the 6th grade I drew 50 girls from 50 states in anime style and conducted my own Miss America contest. I cannot remember which state won, it was definitely what I considered my best drawn and prettiest girl. The inspiration was Sung Kim, who came to my school in the 5th grade after moving from Korea. She could draw those anime girls sooo good. I wanted to be able to draw like Sung. My personal Miss America contest was my attempt at drawing. I wonder what happened to that notebook? Long gone, but now I have another chance to doodle and create something.

Do you doodle?

Action Packed

Well summer has been going full throttle since I last posted, hence the lack of activity around these parts.

Here's the quick and dirty run down of the last few weeks:
Graduation
Charissa and Carla came to town to help me celebrate
A life gone too soon
A graduation party with lots of friends and family
A double birthday party for Mary Jo and Darcy
friends leaving town
My nephew graduated from Junior High
A friend's husband remembered
A trip to Texas to watch some crazy kiddos!
My big dog, Bodhi, diagnosed with lymphoma
One last minute renewing of passport
Family and fireworks on the 4th
The start of chemotherapy
A trip to the UK - London, Blackpool, Edinburgh, and St. Andrew's for The Open

Just got home on Monday night so I am catching up on laundry and time changes. Bodhi is doing well and responding to his treatments. There are loads of photos to download and stories to tell. Whew! What a wild summer so far.

How is your summer treating you?
